We have been so busy with all of our various projects, especially with the marvellous spring weather enabling garden work, that I have neglected to write an entry for about six weeks now. Eek! π²
That said, despite the very welcome warming of the weather, I have decided to dedicate today’s post to the breathtaking snow we had the first two weeks of February!
I have mentioned before that I originally come from Minnesota, and that one of the reasons we started looking to move to Scotland was to find a place a little more like home where we might find some snow in the winter. England was perennially disappointing for a snowaholic like me: the brown, wet winters seemed to go on forever and whenever there was snow, it disappeared within a day or so of hitting the ground. Boo. Hiss.
This year, our first winter up here, I waited patiently for snow all through the Christmas period – and it finally arrived at the start of January. To my enormous pleasure, it stayed put and we kept that first snow for about two and a half weeks. But, it was hardly a dramatic accumulation and it was a sad day when the last of it melted away.
When the weather reports started rumbling about a big snowfall expected the first week of February, I was dubious: I have been around this particular block many times in the UK, and big can often mean as little as two inches! π Still, I was hopeful and boy, oh boy, when it arrived, I was not disappointed!
These first few pictures were from the first couple days of the Big Snow:

And then, a few days later, we had MORE snow!

It was on Day 3 of the Big Snow that we realised that we would never be able to shovel our way out of the snow to receive deliveries or drive anywhere… Oops. We called our lovely neighbour to ask which Plow Guy/Gal they recommended, and they promptly sent one of their farm employees down with a tractor to sort that out for us. π€£π

And then, on Day 4 or Day 5, the sun came out and started to melt the snow away, and the house developed some pretty cool icicles (more impressive when you realise the windows are about 8 feet tall!):

So, all in all, I am pleased to report that the first proper snow in the house did not disappoint this Minnesota girl in the slightest – yay!
And since the snow melted away, we have been just as excited to see the first rush of spring, which I’ll be sharing with you very soon! Until then, take care, everyone! π₯°
A very enjoyable entry Britt! It looks so magical! Be forewarned that as soon as travel is allowed again I have you on my list to visit!
